In September ‘24 we worked with Motorsport UK and Swansea University to introduce the girls to Motorsport and the world of work.Girls on Track UK’, is an initiative managed by Motorsport UK, whose main aim is to inspire, connect and showcase females in motorsport as well as in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) subjects.

Girls on Track

F1 Car Design

The main ‘drive’ of the project! The pupils are studying the science behind why an F1 car is shaped the way it is before designing their very own car to race the other schools involved in the project. The pupils have had to consider air resistance and the need to make their cars aerodynamic, to give themselves a chance of being on top of the podium at the end of the project.

F1 Commentary Competition

To develop their oracy skills, our Year 6 pupils are taking part in an F1 commentary competition. The pupils have to create their own commentaries to the title deciding lap between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

F1 Uniform & Bag Design

In this aspect of the project, the pupils are competing against one another, to design a F1 uniform and bag to carry their F1 cars. The finalists from each school were invited to Dylan Thomas, to use our equipment, in order to bring their designs to life. An overall winner will be decided from all schools, at our Grand prix event.
